Hello Odyssey Families,
As we approach the end of the third quarter of the school year, we want to send out some updates so you know what to expect from Odyssey for the remainder of this school year, and to share our proposed plans for next school year. Please understand that the situation is constantly changing and that Odyssey may need to alter its plans accordingly.
For the remainder of this school year, Odyssey Charter School will be using its facilities to conduct the testing that is required by the State of Nevada and the US Department of Education. Because we are socially distancing our students and keeping testing groups very small, testing will use our entire facility. We are bringing students on campus in grades three through 12 for testing, in accordance with our safety policies and protocols, from now through May, to administer the required tests in ELA, Math, Science, and High School ACT. Each school will be sending you more detailed information about the tests your child will be required to take and when they are scheduled.
Other than the face-to-face testing, Odyssey will continue delivering instruction virtually for the remainder of this school year. We are aware the Clark County School District is implementing a plan to return students to campus this year, however, at Odyssey, students will only come on campus for the required face-to-face testing this year.
Odyssey plans to return to some form of our normal instructional model next school year, which means that our on-campus, face-to-face classes will resume. We are exploring a temporary option to offer a “Virtual Only” track depending on the status of the community’s health and the needs of our students and families. We will continue to closely monitor the recommendations from the State Department of Education, the SNHD, and the CCSD.
The Enrollment window for next year will open in April, soon after Spring Break.
We miss our students very much and we look forward to seeing them face-to-face as soon as we are able to do so in a manner that is safe and comfortable for all involved. Thank you for your diligence and hard work with your students at home. We appreciate you!
Thank you,
The Odyssey Charter School Team
