The entire school community has been concerned about the safety of continuing the face-to-face portion of our program. Odyssey’s Administrative Team has been listening daily to the guidance provided by the Southern Nevada Health District, Center for Disease Control, World Health Organization, and the State of Nevada. We have been meeting daily to make the best decisions for our community. It is important for us to communicate that this is a precautionary, proactive approach based on the CDC recommendations for social distancing not due to any reported cases of COVID-19 in the Odyssey community.
In our decision making, we took into account all aspects of this unpredictable time with the safety and welfare of our entire community leading the way. We believe in well informed, thoughtful decisions based on all the available information. In this situation where information is fluid and changing hour by hour, caution and safety are our priorities.
Beginning Monday, March 16th, we are moving our learning community exclusively to the online environment. It is essential to understand that school is not closed, however, the physical campus will be inaccessible! It is extremely important that the educational process not be interrupted. We are grateful that as a blended learning model our students have always had full access to the entire curriculum with support from their teachers and that is not changing. We will simply be replacing our face-to-face support with teacher support using other modes of technology.
Teachers will make this transition on Monday, March 16th and will be reaching out to you with more information. Students and parents must be checking your Moodle Message and Odyssey email daily to receive the most current information.
On Monday, March 16th, you must log in to your classes and begin your online coursework just as you normally would.
At this time, we are planning for students to return to their regular on-campus schedule after Spring Break on Tuesday, April 14th.
State-mandated testing is still a priority and will still take place. You will receive more information regarding our adjusted testing schedule soon.
Thank you,
Odyssey Administrative Team
