Dear Odyssey Charter School Parents and Students,
2020 has been quite a year!! Despite all of the uncertainty and change, we are very proud of our Odyssey community! Odyssey is grateful for having over two decades of experience teaching students online. Staff, parents, and students have adapted to moving from a blended learning model to a full-distance education model. It has been a seamless transition and has gone as well as we could have ever hoped. As we close out the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year and start into a new semester and a new year, we want to keep you informed of what to expect in 2021 and the second semester.
Classes resume after the holiday break on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Due to the surge of COVID-19 cases in the Las Vegas Valley, Odyssey has decided to remain in the full-distance education model for the third quarter of the school year. Odyssey is awaiting guidance from the United States Department of Education and the Nevada Department of Education on the status of state and nationally mandated testing. If the U.S. Department of Education requires in-person testing, we will reach out to those impacted families to communicate the plan.
Pending the status of the pandemic in our community, we hope we are able to invite some students back to our campus beginning the fourth quarter. However, even if we can re-open our campus for the 4th quarter, Odyssey will continue to provide students with the option of full-distance education classes for the remainder of this school year, if they choose. While we are anxious to have students return to campus, we understand the uncertainty that accompanies that decision for families.
We would like to ask you to do something for us! We have now completed a whole semester in the full-distance education learning model. Because we will continue the full-distance education learning model for the third quarter, we want to know what we can do better to support Odyssey learners.
