About NV Science Testing
Nevada law requires all students in grades 5, 8, and 9 to take a science-based test called the NV Science Test. This test measures students’ understanding of grade-level Nevada Academic Content Standards for Science in grades 5, 8, and 9. 9th grade Science standards correspond to the High School Biology course.
These test results are important for helping teachers and schools understand where students need support in Science as well as establishing our school’s STAR rating from the Nevada Report Card.
All NV Science testing must be completed at school, in person, and on computers.
NV Science results do not impact students’ academic grades or promotion to the next grade. They are simply meant to let teachers know what students are learning and where they need more support in order to be ready for success.
