Dear Odyssey High School Parents & Students,
Welcome to the 2020-21 school year at Odyssey Charter High School. This fall we begin our 21st year serving students in Southern Nevada. The COVID-19 Pandemic has impacted schools nationwide. As a result, we have decided to go virtual for the entire 1st Semester (August 10 – December 18). Our school model allows us to continue to deliver a sound instructional program, without the in-person on-campus student attendance. However, we will provide academic support virtually through Google Meet.
Parent/student orientation is required and this year will be delivered via Moodie. Moodie is our learning management system, where students will access all their courses and orientation. Required orientation will take place online the week before school begins. Orientation will require signing in to Moodie and watching a presentation between Tuesday, August 4th, and Friday, August 7th. Instructions on how to access the orientation are listed on a separate page in this letter, along with the Moodie username and password.
All students must sign in to all of their classes in Moodie on the first day of school (August 10) and complete the Enrollment Quizzes and Mandatory Attendance quizzes in every course.
Google Meet interventions will begin on August 10. Every teacher will be available for two hours each day via Google Meet, with the exception of Wednesdays. Wednesdays will feature Google Meet times for AP and Dual Credit classes, credit recovery, and open labs. Students who receive an academic alert for specific classes will be required to attend a Google Meet session with one or more of their teachers to get additional assistance. Please note that Night School Google Meet sessions will start on August 13.
Attached to this letter are the Moodie login information and instructions on how to complete orientation, 1st Semester Virtual Google Meet Schedule, 1st Semester Wednesday Virtual Schedule, the OCS Crisis Response Plan Parent Notice Letter, and a flyer discussing our visitor policy and safety procedures.
