Vegetarian Resource Group Scholarships:

 Awards two $5,000 college scholarships to 2014 graduating U.S. high school students who have promoted vegetarianism in their schools and/or communities.  Vegetarians do not eat meat, fish, or fowl.  Postmark deadline is February 20, 2014.  Early submission is encouraged.  Applicants will be judged on having shown compassion, courage, and a strong committment to promoting a peaceful world through a vegetarian diet/lifestyle.  An essay and three or more recommendations (including at least one teacher) are required.  You must also provide any documentation related to your promotion of vegetarianism in high school and/or community including photographs, newspaper stories, etc.  Details available at:

Burger King McLamore Foundation Scholarship

Last year BK awarded more than 2000 scholarships, totaling more than $2.2 million, including one King $25,000 award and three James W. McLamore WHOPPER Scholarship $50,000 awards.  Also available are $5,000 Regional Awards and $1,000 awards.  Application data must be submitted electronically by 11:59 p.m. (Pacific), January 10, 2014.  If 50,000 applications are received prior to January 10, the application will no longer be available.  Application and guidelines now available at:

Future Farmers of America (FFA) Scholarship Program

Scholarships are available to FFA members and non-members.  Applications must be submitted online no later that 5 p.m. (EST) on February 1, 2014.  Required signature page must be postmarked by February 8, 2014.  Scholarships from %500 to $10,000.

Union Plus Scholarship Programs

$150,000 per year is available to family members of unions participating in any Union Plus program.  The amount of the non-renewable awards ranges from $500 – $4,000.  Requires a 500 max word essay on “Career goals, aspirations, community service and how the labor movement has personally affected your life.”  Application deadline:  January 31, 2014.

United Negro College Fund

Website includes a list of 50+ scholarships.  Apply to all the scholarships for which you are eligible.  Scholarships range from $500 to $10,000.  Deadlines vary from December through February.
