If you are completing the Promise Scholarship, you must complete step 7, which is meeting with a college advisor to pick your classes. Once classes are selected with your advisor, you can add them to your shopping cart in your student center on your MyCSN account. You may submit your shopping cart on May 21st to see if your classes are available.
You can log into your account and make an appointment with your college advisor (option 1), or you can do walk-in advising on Tuesday and Wednesday in Building D (map below) (option 2). Meet with an Academic Advisor & Register for Classes
It is recommended the fall schedule is finalized on or before August 1.
Academic Advising appointments open mid-April
Register for a minimum of 12-credit, that are required for your certificate or degree program at CSN for the fall semester.
- Waitlisted classes do not count toward the 12-credit enrollment requirement for the Nevada Promise Scholarship.
- Financial Aid can only be awarded to eligible students enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits applicable to their degree.
Option 1: Schedule an appointment with your assigned advisor!
First, confirm your assigned advising unit. Check the TO DO section on your MyCSN Student Center account. Click on the Get Advised link. If your assigned unit is the Academic Advising Department, then you are in the right place! Go on to the next step.
Second, you will need the name of your assigned advisor. Not sure who your assigned advisor is? Your assigned advisor has invited you to join their Advising Community on Canvas. Go to your Canvas account and look under courses. You will find your advisor’s Canvas Community and their name.
Now that you have your assigned advisor, you are ready to make your appointment using our New Appointment Scheduling platform!

Option 2: Use Express Advising.
Express Advising consists of 15-minute drop-in sessions for quick questions to obtain basic information. Long-term planning is not recommended for this service.
Express Advising is available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm. Students are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The line may require a wait time of an hour or greater and may close periodically when demand is high.
During Express Advising, students can meet with advisors on campus or by phone.
• To meet with an advisor on campus, students can join the queue online at https://my.csn.edu/en-US/service-queue or at their preferred campus and select the ‘In-person Academic Advising’ queue. You will receive a text message alerting you when it is your turn to see an advisor.
• To meet with an advisor by phone, students can join the line at https://my.csn.edu/en-US/service-queue/ and choose the “Academic Advising by Phone” queue. When you reach the front of the queue for “Academic Advising by Phone,” you will receive a phone call from an academic advisor.
