2016 Graduation Information
Congratulations, 2016 Graduates! Your big day is almost here. We have a few more weeks of school and then we get to celebrate your achievements in style. Senior Due Dates
Before you can walk, you have to work (on your assignments, that is)! Graduating seniors must complete and submit all assignments by 4:00pm on Friday, May 20, 2016. This will allow teachers and counselors the time they require to grade assignments and certify that seniors have met their graduation requirements prior to the graduation ceremony. If you have any questions about what is expected of you in a particular class, please talk to your teacher.
At this time Odyssey has allotted 7 tickets per family for the graduation ceremony. All guests will need a ticket to attend the ceremony. The graduate will not need a ticket. Children sitting on laps will not need a ticket. Please confirm the 7 allotted tickets and request additional tickets by April 15. To confirm and request extra tickets please have your son/daughter log in to Moodle, open a new web browsing window, go to www.odysseyk12.org, click on the High School tab, select Senior Info, and complete the ticket request form. If no additional tickets are requested you will receive the 7 allotted tickets, only.
Cap and Gown Photos
Portraits by Catherine will be on campus to take cap and gown photos on April 12, 13, and 14. On the 12th and 14th they will be available from 10 to 2 in Building 3. (Look for the blue balloons.) On the 13th they will be available from 10 to 12. These photos will be available for purchase. There will not be a sitting fee.
All boys should wear shirts with ties or a collared shirt, please no suit jackets. Girls should dress nicely, please no t-shirts or low-cut dresses or tops. The gown is a v-neck and looks best when some material is showing. All hair should be styled in a manner that will accommodate the cap being placed on the top of the head. Please no high-pony tails or buns, or mohawks. This year cap and gown photos will not be taken at the graduation ceremony.
If your child is not photographed on campus you will need to schedule with Portraits by Catherine to be photographed at their studio. A sitting fee will be charged.

Cap and Gown
Cap and Gown units are $25. The unit includes a cap, gown, and tassel. At this time cap and gowns have been ordered. If your son or daughter did not turn in their height and weight a shipment of cap and gowns will be delivered and we will do our best to fit your son/daughter.
Cap and Gown units will be available for pick up starting May 16, 2016. Counselors will be checking grades at that time to verify that you have met all the graduation requirements and are eligible to receive a cap and gown. You will be given directions on how to pick up your cap and gown during your normal attendance day.
We will have a limited number of announcements for sale once cap and gowns go on sale. The cost will be $1.50 per announcement. We will sell them on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Senior Speeches and Poetry
Each year OCHS Administration picks several students to speak at graduation. It is always one of the high points of the graduation ceremony. The opportunity to submit a speech is extended to all 2015 graduates. Speeches should be 2 to 3 minutes in length. The deadline for speech submissions is Friday, May 6 at 3:00 pm. All speeches should be submitted to Sara Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org. Any questions regarding content or if you need guidance in the writing of your speech please see Ms. Smith.
If you are a poet and would like to submit an original work for the graduation program please submit it to Sara Smith at email@example.com. This deadline is Friday, May 6 at 3:00 pm as well.
Graduation Dress Code
All graduates should plan to wear dress clothes to the ceremony. No jeans, tennis shoes, or flip flops will be allowed. Graduation gowns look best if pressed/ironed. Hair should be worn in a style that allows the cap to fit on the top of the students head. All gowns must be fully zipped. Boys, your gown looks best with a shirt that has a collar.
MANDATORY Graduation Rehearsal
All seniors are asked to meet at the Cashman Center on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm for rehearsal. All seniors are asked to be in attendance. This rehearsal is mandatory. Students will also receive their senior gift at this meeting. Feel free to dress casually for the rehearsal. Snacks will be provided.

- 5:45 – All guest must be seated at this time to allow students to walk in. Doors will be closed at this time and will re-open at 6:05

From NW Las Vegas: Take U.S. 95 South, Exit on Las Vegas Blvd., Turn Left on Las Vegas Blvd., Travel 1/4 mile, Turn right into Cashman Center.
From North Las Vegas: Take I-15 South to U.S. 95 South, Exit on Las Vegas Blvd., Turn Left on Las Vegas Blvd., Travel 1/4 mile, Turn right into Cashman Center or Take 1-15 South to Washington Avenue Exit, turn left on Washington, Travel 3/4 mile, Turn right into Cashman Center.
