Dear Odyssey Families,
We are pleased to share important information and resources to help our students prepare for college and future success.
NV College Kick Start Program (Grades 4-12)
The Nevada College Kick Start Program, established pursuant to NRS 353B.335, automatically creates a college savings account for eligible Nevada public school students in grades 4-12. This program helps families begin saving early for postsecondary education.

FAFSA Education & Support (High School Students)
At Odyssey Charter High School, we are committed to helping students understand the importance of financial planning and college readiness.
(a) All high school students receive education on the importance and value of financial planning and completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
(b) Our College Readiness Counselor, Mr. Smyth, leads workshops on completing the FAFSA and navigating financial aid opportunities.
For information regarding our next FAFSA Night, please contact Mr. Smyth at [email protected] .
(c) Students attending FAFSA completion events should bring the following:
- Social Security Number or Alien Registration Number (if applicable)
- Federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of income
- Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
- Bank statements and investment records
- A Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID for both the student and one parent
(d) All 12th-grade students are encouraged to register for an FSA ID and complete the FAFSA. This process is incorporated into our Economics and Financial Literacy class, which is a graduation requirement for all seniors, and our College Survival class.
FAFSA Completion Events
We have planned two FAFSA completion events this school year:
- October FAFSA Night: Tuesday, October 7th, at the CSN West Charleston Campus
- February FAFSA Night: Date TBD – please watch for upcoming announcements
These events are open to 12th-grade students and their parents/guardians. Staff and counselors will be available to assist families with completing the FAFSA and answering financial aid questions.
We encourage all families to take advantage of these opportunities and resources to support your student’s college and career readiness.
