Students must write two essays of about 28 lines each. Each essay is graded by two individuals using a rubric scale of one to six.
Each grader assigns one score to the essay. This score is ‘added’ to the score to the other grader which equals a number of zero to twelve. The final two scores are averaged together for a final writing proficiency score. A 7 is passing.
Writing Score Example:
Reader 1: grades a 3 Reader 2: grades a 4
Essay 1= a 7 score
Reader 1: grades a 3 Reader 2: grades a 3
Essay 2 = a 6 score
7+6=13 then divide by 2 essays = 6.5 score…FAIL
